Stamford, Conn. – Sept. 11, 2019 – Stamford Health physician Dr. Craig Olin has been named medical director of the Americares Free Clinic of Stamford. In his new role, Dr. Olin will provide guidance on clinic policies and procedures, support volunteer recruitment and serve as an advocate within the community. His new volunteer position begins on Sept. 1.
“Dr. Olin’s remarkable commitment as a volunteer physician has resulted in hundreds of Stamford patients receiving quality care,” said Americares Free Clinics Executive Director Karen Gottlieb. “We are thrilled for him to join the clinic’s leadership team and look forward to his contributions as medical director.”
Dr. Olin, a Wilton resident, began volunteering shortly after the Stamford clinic opened in 2014. He works as a practicing physician for the Stamford Health Medical Group, where he specializes in internal medicine, and is the director of the division of general internal medicine at Stamford Hospital. Dr. Olin is also an assistant clinical professor of medicine with Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons as part of Stamford Health’s affiliation with the university.
Dr. Olin earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tufts University and a medical degree from New York University’s School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center. He also holds an MBA in healthcare management from the Regis University School for Professional Studies in Denver, Colo. Dr. Olin was named one of Connecticut Magazine’s “Top Doctors” for 2019 and has been recognized as one of Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area” since 2006.

The Americares Free Clinic of Stamford provides quality primary care services to nearly 600 low-income, uninsured patients every year. Patients receive comprehensive health services, including exams, medications, laboratory work, diagnostic services and flu vaccines at no cost. The clinic opened as a mobile health center in 2014 and moved to its current location at 401 Shippan Ave. in 2017.
Americares Free Clinics, the largest free clinic network in Connecticut, is celebrating 25 years of helping low-income, uninsured patients live healthier lives. The clinics, located in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford, provide care for nearly 3,000 patients each year.
