The McKesson Foundation Awards Grant to AmeriCares Free Clinics
CONTACT: Donna Porstner The McKesson Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to the AmeriCares Free Clinics in Norwalk, Danbury and Bridgeport for diabetes education programs that help patients successfully manage the disease. Since 1943, The McKesson Foundation has been dedicated to building healthier communities. Each year the foundation invests more than $5 million in the communities where McKesson employees live and work. The McKesson Foundation's mission is to support its employees in their community involvement efforts and to improve the lives of patients through health care quality improvements, improved efficiencies and patient participation in their own health management. The foundation's main funding priority is chronic disease management in the U.S., with a near-term focus on diabetes through March 2012. AmeriCares Free Clinics provide quality health care to uninsured area residents in a setting where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. Since 1994, our clinics in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury have provided $30 million in health care services for our neighbors in need.
