

Press ReleaseJanuary 14, 2008 CONTACT: Danielle Fiori: 203-658-9579 AmeriCares Free Clinics Receive Grant From the United Way of Norwalk and Wilton Stamford, CT—AmeriCares Free Clinics has received a $5,000 grant from the United Way of Norwalk and Wilton in support of the Norwalk clinic. The grant will support the Well Women’s Clinic, which serves the community’s female population. The program was established in 2007 to fill a gap in the area and enable women to receive gynecological screening. The United Way of Norwalk and Wilton focuses on helping children succeed, improving the lives of older adults, promoting healthy youth development, building strong neighborhoods, meeting basic needs and encouraging health and wellness. Since 1994, the AmeriCares Free Clinics has delivered nearly $17 million worth of medical services to 15,000 uninsured patients. AmeriCares Free Clinics also operates health clinics in Danbury and Bridgeport. AmeriCares Free Clinics accepts no federal government funding. Rather, they operate with private donations and volunteer services. With more than 350 volunteers and partnerships, AmeriCares Free Clinics is able to provide quality health care and diagnostic services to the uninsured who might otherwise never receive care or treatments.
