Danbury Home & Garden Tour Benefits the AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury

STAMFORD, CT, May 16, 2007 - Local history buffs will appreciate this opportunity to take a peek inside an historic Deer Hill Avenue home in Danbury and benefit the AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury at the same time.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 23 & 24, the lovely 100-year old Italian Renaissance Mansion at 49 Deer Hill Avenue will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Visitors are also invited to tour the half-acre of park-like grounds, framed by majestic white pines and hemlock trees, and home to lush terraced and sunken gardens.  The Danbury Museum and Historical Society has provided a published self-guided walking tour of other prominent Deer Hill Avenue homes, with details about their architectural styles and their original owners.  The tour is sponsored by Union Savings Bank and other local vendors.

All tickets are $15 if purchased in advance; admission at the door on June 23 & 24 is $20, with all proceeds benefiting the AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury.   Goodie bags will be given to the first 200 visitors and box lunches provided by Biksbee's will be available for those who wish to picnic on the grounds.

For more event information or advance ticket purchases, contact Deb Howard, community affairs manager at AmeriCares Free Clinics at 203-658-9651 or visit the website at www.americaresfreeclinics.org. Tickets are available online and can also be purchased in advance at the Danbury Museum and Historical Society, 43 Main Street in Danbury.

Since 1994, the AmeriCares Free Clinics has provided more than $15 million of quality health care services to the uninsured residents of Norwalk, Danbury and Bridgeport.
