Stamford, CT, October 3, 2007 - AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury received a $2,500 grant from the Meserve Memorial Fund. The donation will provide general operating support for uninsured patients in the Greater Danbury area who are chronically ill.
AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury provides free primary care to residents in a setting where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. The clinic accepts no federal government funding. Rather, it operates with private donations and volunteer services. Partnerships like this allow the clinic to continue its work in providing medical services to people who would otherwise receive delayed treatment or none at all.
Since its opening in 1997, the AmeriCares Free Clinic of Danbury has provided health care services valued at over $8.5 million to more than 5,700 uninsured residents of the Greater Danbury area.
The Meserve Memorial Fund was established in 1978 to increase the charitable work of Albert Meserve and his wife, Helen, in the Danbury area. The Meserve Memorial Fund is a long-time supporter of AmeriCares.
In addition to the Danbury location, AmeriCares Free Clinics provides medical care to the uninsured in Norwalk and Bridgeport. For more information, visit the website at www.americaresfreeclinics.org or call 1-800-486-HELP (4357).
